ULisboa Award for Vítor Cardoso
Vítor Cardoso was awarded the 2024 Ulisboa Award for his “extraordinary contributions to theoretical physics and to scientific progress on a global scale,” according to the press release by University of Lisboa. The award honors one individual, portuguese or foreigner, with remarkable contributions to science and to the visibility of the country.
Vítor is a Distinguished Professor at Técnico Lisbon and a Bohr Professor at the Niels Bohr Institute, where he leads the Strong Group and the Center of Gravity. “His work, with an amazing international impact, transcends the frontiers of academy, and stands out as an inspiring example of innovation, leadership and passion for knowledge, with a tremendous impact on future generations of scientists.”
Previous awardees include António Guterres, the secretary-general of the United Nations, in 2020.
